Homeowners, listen up!

Did you know that gas dryers in attached garages need to be elevated at least 18 inches off the ground? This isn't just a suggestion—it's a safety requirement! Here’s why:

Fire Hazard Prevention: Gasoline fumes from your car or other sources can settle on the garage floor. Elevating the dryer helps prevent these flammable fumes from coming into contact with the dryer's ignition source.

Standard Compliance: Most safety standards mandate this elevation to reduce the risk of fire. Staying compliant not only keeps your home safe but also avoids potential issues when selling your property.

Additional Safety Measures: If you have a dryer vent that passes through the garage and a shared wall with the home, it must be at least 26-gauge sheet metal ducting for fire safety. This would slow the spread of a fire entering through the dryer venting effectively adding an extra layer of protection against potential fire hazards.

Peace of Mind: Knowing your gas dryer is properly installed means one less thing to worry about. Safety first, always! Need a home inspection to ensure your garage and appliances are up to standard? Give us a call today! #HomeSafety #GasDryer #HomeInspection
